Whether you’re a seasoned hiker or a Sunday stroller, you’ll find what you’re looking for in the heart of the Parc naturel régional des Baronnies Provençales.
1. Olive groves and Veaux valley circuit
- Distance: 12.4 km
- Ascent: +320 m
- Duration: approx. 4 hours
- Level: Easy to medium
- Start: Cloister of the Dominicans
The concept:
This confidential trail runs east from Buis-les-Baronnies to the Veaux valley, passing through terraces of century-old olive trees, isolated hamlets and paths lined with low dry-stone walls. Perfect for an authentic immersion in the agricultural landscapes of the Baronnies Provençales.
What we like:
- Gentle relief, ideal at the beginning or end of the season
- Old farmhouses and lavender dryers along the way
- Late afternoon light on the olive trees


2. Penne ravine path and Goule spring
- Distance: 7 km
- Ascent: +280 m
- Duration: 2h30
- Level: Easy
- Departure: from the Pas des Ondes district, 15 min walk from the Cloister
The concept:
A little-traveled itinerary that takes you through the ravin de la Penne, a discreet valley bordered by cliffs, to the source of the Goule, a little hidden treasure. The trail skirts a stream, crosses a forest, then opens onto luminous clearings.

- The absolute calm of the ravine
- Fresh spring water, perfect for a break
- Green lizards, butterflies and forest birds along the way
3. The Aiguille botanical trail
- Distance: 5.5 km
- Ascent: +190 m
- Duration: 1h45 to 2h
- Level: Easy
- Departure: Ouvèze riverbank, 10 min from the Cloister
Ideal for families or leisurely walkers, this trail offers a lovely loop in the heart of nature. Educational panels line the path, allowing you to discover the typical plants of the region: lavender, thyme, rosemary, broom…

- The nearby Rocher de l’Aiguille as a backdrop


Tips for hiking in the Baronnies
- Choose early morning departures in summer
- Protect yourself from the sun: cream, cap, sunglasses
- Carry sufficient water (min. 1.5 L/person)
- Download GPS routes or ask for them at reception. Hiking maps are also available.
- To make the most of your day, reserve your packed lunch at the Cloister reception desk at least 48 hours in advance.
